Two humidity and temperature controlled challenge rooms are available for laboratory-scale
experiments with biological, environmental or chemical agents. Each room has independent
environmental systems and limited access to prevent cross-contamination.
The rooms can be set up with small independent aquaria each linked to its own dosing
aquaria. Lighting is spectrally select based on the genus-species under study and
is under timer control to simulate the natural sunlight cycle.
A teflon dosing system
capable of 16 independent treatments is available and was donated by Dr. Robert
Richmond, University of Hawaii. To date both chemical and microbiological challenge
studies have been conducted.
